Engineering Manager

Responsibilities


Ability to direct component, subsystem, and system level architecture planning, modeling and simulation analysis, requirements engineering, and specification preparation and maintenance related to the development and sustainment of the AFSCN under the Satellite Control Network Contract (SCNC).

Ability to foresee future needs to be entered into an architecture roadmap (5, 10 and 15 years out) and direct/derive the associated requirements for the future systems needs

Responsibility for the integration of new, or existing, technologies into business operations.

Expertise implementing systems through the phases of the system development lifecycle (system evolution studies and architectural planning, architectural roadmap development, system modeling and simulation, requirements development, design, develop, implement and test) is desired. Includes experience in coordinating and developing the system plan with other functional elements of the development/production process, such as architecture, design, integration, and test.

Requirements

Familiarity with development tracking of cross-project interdependencies.

Ability to assess the impacts of new or changing requirements on the AFSCN and on specific AFSCN configuration items, including impact to AFSCN-internal and external interfaces

Experience with a wide range of engineering tools such as ClearCase, DOORS, Rational Tool Suite, and Telelogic's System Architect for DOD Architectural Framework is highly desired.

Business Management

Effective integration skills related to systems engineering activities across all contract activities and ability to provide technical direction and instruction relative to complex problems which may cross multiple disciplines.

Familiarity with Risk Management, Mitigation, and Analysis Processes.

Familiarity with DOD aerospace systems is desired.

Familiar with space operations and satellite command and control operations is desired.

Requires a significant amount of leadership and communications skills to navigate complex program of government, contractor, and user stakeholders while ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of architecture engineering and requirements, and specification products.

Ensuring technical objectives are met, within budgetary and schedule guidelines.

Developing detailed financial plans for architecture and requirements engineering activities.

Ensuring Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) reporting requirements are met.

Ability to conduct long-term strategy planning for the branch.


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline PLUS 5 years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications

Vision, must be able to understand the larger scope of the SCNC program and distill into actionable roadmap, with possible product development considerations.

Energy and positive enthusiasm tied to goals and objectives.

Clearly articulate a consistent vision, and distill into actionable metrics, and foucs.

Ability to recognize talent, and build and organization.
