Mechanical Engineer



Job Summary:

Mechanical Engineer to conceptualize, design, develop and test durable solutions of various mechanical components, mechanical assemblies, and optical assemblies used in medical and industrial imaging systems. Design mechanical test fixtures and tooling, design of test procedures, and other manufacturing support functions required to consistently produce mechanical and/or opto/mechanical assemblies. Provide analytical support of mechanical designs to the development teams. Perform research and development of new mechanical and opto/mechanical technology for use in future products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform various forms of analysis.  These analyses should include temperature, FEA, tolerance, torque values, etc.
Determine methods of communicating the analytical results with the rest of the Engineering staff.
Determine, where appropriate, empirical methods, to validate analytical models.  If necessary, update the model assumptions and/or empirical methods to correlate the results.
Research and Development
Research and develop new mechanical, opto/mechanical, and materials technology for use in future and existing KSI products.
Project Development Teams
Provide design assistance and analysis for the Engineering and Manufacturing personnel during the various design phases.
Contribute design ideas, constraints, and trade-offs, and concerns to the Project Managers
Transform ideas into mechanical, optical, component, and assembly drawings
Communicate with purchasing and vendors for new processes and capabilities required for new designs.
Participate in and/or perform the critical reviewer function during design reviews. Identify holes, concerns, and possible problems associated with the design and/or manufacturing processes.
Sustaining Support
Provide sustaining support for existing product lines. This may include analysis of field issues and/or analysis of manufacturing issues.
Determine validation test requirements to isolate and help correct sustaining problems.
Determine test methods and procedures for new requirements.
Documentation   changes.
General Engineering
Provide support and technical direction for the generation and maintenance of the Design Assurance Checks for mechanical and opto/mechanical designs.
Regular attendance is an essential job function.
Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSI’s products and services.

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields with 2-5 years of experiencein mechanical and opto/mechanical design or a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields with 0-2 years of experiencein mechanical and opto/mechanical design.
Familiarity with Endoscopy a plus
Experience using computer aided drafting (CAD) software namely ProE
Experience using Computer-aided FMEA and temperate analysis tools.
Ability to perform tolerance studies on assembly components using CAD capabilities and standard inspection and measuring tools.
Basic understanding of optical design formulas, optical materials, coatings, and mechanical constraints of opto/mechanical designs, adhesives, and sealing techniques.
Knowledgeable of machining operations, metal finishes, and finishing.
Familiarity with standard mechanical drawing requirements

Technical Project Manager

Responsibilities
As a key member of the Applications Solution Delivery (ASD), consultants and contract resources in all aspects of SDLC activities for the successful delivery of application development projects.
Creates and manages enterprise project plans working in partnership with Business, Architecture, Quality Management, Infrastructure, and Operations to secure resources, identify key milestones, project dependencies, tasks and effort required for on-time and on-budget project delivery into test and production environments.
Conducts kick off and periodic status meetings with project team members and tracks overall health of the project.
Facilitates requirements gathering and design sessions, and as appropriate, may be responsible for key design deliverable s, building proof of concepts, or undertaking complex application coding tasks.
Has a broad and thorough understanding of current development techniques, methodologies, tools and technologies.
Mentors development staff and keeps abreast of emerging technologies, tools, development processes and proposes/implements feasible solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of solutions delivery

Leadership:
Lead development teams of Java/J2E and COBOL developers.
Provide staff performance feedback to ASD resource managers

Process Management:
Monitor team activity and ensure that all deliverables are on time and within budget and with high quality.
Monitor defects found during development to ensure high quality is achieved in transitioning code to QA, and ultimately production, improving quality earlier in the software development lifecycle.
Capture and report key metrics to the PMO and ITS leadership.

Sound knowledge of project planning, resource management and System Development Life Cycle methodologies, PMP Preferred
Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent planning skills with the ability to demonstrate mature, solid and professional problem solving abilities.
Self-starter. Capable of creative and innovative thought and the ability to progress ideas from development through implementation.
Demonstrated experience in tracking project status, metrics and in analyzing details to determine trends and measures.

Systems Manager


Job Summary:

The Systems Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a team of resources comprised of System Administrators and Reporting Analysts that support the daily operations of the Consumers Services organization.
Responsible for contributing to the development of the strategic direction and annual business plans.

Accountable Governing, managing and delivery of Reports across the Operational, Tactical & Strategic Levels.

Manage report validation, change management and process improvement pertaining to reporting creation

Prioritize and manage development of reporting solutions & analytical results based on existing requirements, models and delivery methods

Create, manage process for the submission, evaluation and execution of system configuration changes, including documentation & tracking of requests

Recommend new or modified reporting methods and procedures to enhance content and reporting output for internal clients

Manage analytic requirements and results to validate impact upon business process, training, people and technology

Identify procedural gaps and work in conjunction with process improvement teams to improve existing processes

Build and maintain constructive relationships with various departmental teams enabling positive change

Develop, mentor and evaluate team members to broaden skill sets


Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Programming or equivalent experience

At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory role

Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, MS Access, SAS (Salesforce, RightNow, Echopass), SQL, Business Objects

Ability to analyze, define and specify customer requirements

Ability to manage a wide range of cross-functional activities while meeting time sensitive and variable deadlines

Strong analytical, planning, organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skill

Knowledge of industry best practices associated with reporting

In-depth understanding of advanced analytics and predictive modeling

Proven ability to leverage cross-functional relationships to accomplish duties in aggressive timeframes

Works closely with Project Delivery Managers, Consultants and Customers, on resource assignment and ensures schedules meet goals and scheduled dates.

Skills/Requirements

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years in project management, including experience with MS Project management application and able to produce detailed project plans.
• Staff leadership experience, including expereince leading teams of project managers.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, organizational and communication skills.
• Must have mature analytical skills as evidenced by the ability to solve problems, identify improvement opportunities, and create effective action plans.
• Demonstrated success in meeting deadlines and resource commitments.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
