The export coordinator ensures customer
shipments arrive at destination in the same condition they were received from
the customer, in compliance with all governmental and industry regulations,
accompanied by high quality customer service.
Communicate with cartage agent to arrange pickup
of freight or container
Select appropriate export carrier and routing
based on shipment characteristics or customer requirements
Communicate with export carrier to confirm
booking and receive shipping details
Review customer documentation, confirm as
correct and complete or request revised documents
Follow SOP – standard operating procedure – for
standard requirements
Follow customer specific SOP for additional
customer specific requirements
Identify shipments requiring special handling
and regulatory compliance due to shipment characteristics or value,
documentation, commodity, country of origin or destination, shipper or
consignee
Enter required information into freight
management system
Print and review documentation, confirm as
correct and complete
Complete invoicing and billing process
Comply with all applicable regulations
Respond to customer requests for shipment status
Respond to e-mail and telephone requests in a
timely manner
Respond to issues as escalated, escalate
unresolved issues to next management level
Comply with corporate, regional, branch, and
department policies and procedures
Any additional task or activity as requested or
assigned by management
2+ years of experience as export coordinator
preferred
Experience with Ocean /Air Export /Freight
Forwarding highly preferred
Experience as customer service function highly
preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
Excellent Customer Service Skills
Enjoys working with customers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to operate in global environment
Self managing and pro-active
Strives and identifies areas where we can
improve service
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
English is the principal language for this
position. This position requires good written and verbal communication skills
and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural
environment.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office,
Excel, PowerPoint, and other technical software is required.
