The Product Manager
manages up to 5 product families and directs the product from Business Unit
strategy forward. Provides competitive and market landscape analysis, and
emerging technology assessment.
Identifies potential strategic partners and
acquisition targets.
Also responsible for
examining, developing, and recommending product strategies for assigned product
groups.
Manage all products in
assigned line(s) throughout all stages of their life cycle, developing/managing
strategies for product design and development, introduction, continuing contribution,
and discontinuance.
Identify potential
strategic alliance/acquisition candidates to further enhance product portfolio.
Direct responsibility
for managing new and redesigned products in active development.
Takes ownership and
manages all elements of the product development process, including product
specification, packaging, pricing, and phase out/phase in plans.
Attends sales meetings
and visits customers and end-users; conducting product training presentations
and research.
Develops and amends
market and product intelligence database for their assigned products.
Responsible to examine
and analyze product lines’ performance encompassing, but not limited to,
profitability, forecasting and inventory levels.
Shall be fully
knowledgeable of assigned product group and acts in an advisory capacity
regarding product information to Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Marketing
Communications, Customer Service, Tech Line and the sales organization.
Assists in the development
of supporting new product launch material with Marketing and Marketing
Communication Managers.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent oral and
written communication, problem solving, and presentation skills.
A highly developed
level of creative, critical thinking skills and resourcefulness to manage the
product function is required.
Strong technical
knowledge of optical fiber technologies.
Detailed knowledge of
enterprise networks and fiber optic solutions within the office network and
data center environment.
Proficiency in
Microsoft office programs specifically excel and PowerPoint
Experience/Education:
Bachelors Degree in a
technical field or business field is required
10+ years Product
Management or Marketing experience
Fiber optic cabling
products experience required.
Structured cabling
industry experience preferred.
RCCD Certification
preferred.
