Software Systems Specialist - Job Code: CIK-1517

The Software Tools & Systems (STS) team is responsible for maximizing the benefit the software & hardware engineering process derives from various critical applications. STS maintains key tools, investigates and implements improvements and spearheads strategic discussions focused on improving Software's use of application tools. As a member of the Integrity Configuration team within STS the incumbent will bring their experience in software engineering to proactively manage key solutions utilized by RIM.

The ideal candidate has broad experience in the software development field with expert knowledge in one or more aspects of the software development process. The ideal candidate desires to constantly improve the engineering process across RIM by promoting new features and functions of the current tools and investigating new advances within the marketplace for future opportunities. This position will be directly responsible for configuring the MKS Integrity tool used by the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
Analyzing, configuring and enhancing the requirements, defect management and test management tool for current and new teams within the organization
Investigating and evaluating new features and solutions for requirements, defect management and/or test management
Identifying, building and implementing enhancements and improvements to existing tools
Monitoring and maintaining system performance utilizing variety of metrics and monitoring tools
Evaluating Tool upgrades and new functionality
Applying application configuration updates and change requests
Establishing and maintaining documentation and procedures
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
2 - 4 years experience with software development lifecycle
2 years experience with software tool administration or configuration
Experience programming in Java
Experience working with relational databases and SQL
Exceptional troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of HTML and XML
Proven ability to establish and maintain customer and vendor relationships
Able to keep pace with new technologies and to apply them appropriately
Exceptional written and verbal communication
Critical thinker and problem solver
Experience delivering technical training and on-the-job coaching
Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
Proven ability to work in fast pace environment and meet tight deadlines

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
Experience with MKS Integrity is definitely an asset
Experience with Java and JavaScript
Experience with Shell and/or Perl scripts
Knowledge of Oracle DB
