Purchasing / Sourcing Internship

One year internship carrying out duties to aid the running of the purchasing and sourcing department.

This internship for a an up-coming/ recent graduate or a placement year student, will provide an exciting opportunity, giving an excellent insight into how the function works, especially alongside other business processes. 

They would have the opportunity to be involved in various activities detailed below, with the opportunity to get involved in specific projects.

Essential Responsibilities
-Create purchase orders via MRP reports / daily requests using guidelines set by purchasing
-Fax / email purchase orders to suppliers
-Maintain files of purchase orders
-Progress chasing of items, including goods in-transit with company carriers
-Liaise with Sales and Service Departments to identify any special requirements such as early delivery opportunities 
-Confirm with suppliers their ability to meet specific customer requirements
-Request suppliers improve delivery times where appropriate
-Compare all acknowledgments from suppliers with POs to ensure prices and part numbers match.
-Ensure all relevant documentation is adhered to if goods are sent direct to end user from supplier
-Periodic creation of Excel spreadsheets to check status of purchase orders 
-Maintain in-house stationary inventory

Qualifications/Requirements
- Previous purchasing experience and knowledge is essential- Recent graduate or studying towards a relevant degree e.g. Sourcing, Supply Chain etc- Excellent attention to detail- Methodical and accurate working, along with the ability to multitask various tasks/ projects- Ability to work indecently as well as in a team environment- Able to learn quickly and put new information into action in using own initiative- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft office- Strong communication skills both in virtual and physical communications- Excellent interpersonal skills
