Business Unit Area/Functional Area: Technology
Plan, design, and engineer WiMAX Radio Access Network (RAN) systems for the Clearwire network that transports and delivers broadband application functionality.
Manage RAN network performance through defining Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and develop reports to measure and report on WiMAX network performance daily.
Help identify systemic network issues across the Clearwire WiMAX network and develop cost efficient engineering solutions to resolve these issues.
Create network modeling and simulation tools for the Clearwire subscriber traffic profile. Additionally, define optimum network configuration and optimization guidelines to maximize network performance based on modeling analysis.
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field plus two years experience in regional or national RAN design performance engineering for a wireless network operating company.
Will also accept Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field plus five years experience in same.
Work experience must include at least two years experience in each of the following:
Internet data services and associated protocols such as SIP, RTP, TCP/UDP and VOIP
Constructing simulations for network performance
Working with various test tools such as Wireless Logix XCAL and XCAP, Chariot, spectrum, signal and network analyzers, Spotfire, Spirent Smartbits 6000C performance analysis system, Wireshark and Iperf traffic generators
Mobile WiMAX (802.16e-2005) physical layer standards and data communication protocols
Mobile WiMAX network design, optimization and performance analysis including RF parameters, core network, coverage and capacity
Mobile WiMAX call processing flows and radio link MAC performance; Motorola and Samsung WiMAX RAN implementations and feature sets and their interoperability with various core network elements such as the AAA, HA, DPI, DNS
Protocols such as Radius, Diameter and MIP and their implementation on the Motorola and Samsung WiMAX platforms
Databases systems (SQL abilities are key), GIS (MapInfo preferred) and RF Propagation tools (Planet preferred)
