Financial Data Analyst


Job Summary:

Develops and maintains database applications. Meets with business users and management to create requirements documentation for Reporting project needs. Programs and develops reports and databases. Assists Analytics reporting lead and Supervisor in ensuring that projects are implemented within project scope and requirements. Creates and maintains report and database documentation which is used as a tool for the business and Reporting team to understand how the reports and databases function. Acts as a backup to all data analysts’ team members when needed. Support and complete various projects, including automation/standardization efforts. Constantly evaluate systems, processes and procedures for inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvement.

Timely and accurate completion of projects.
Develops and maintains database applications.
Create and maintain report and database documentation.
Produce concise reporting on any servicing data files as needed.
Perform other duties to facilitate group goals as assigned.
Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

SKILL

Must be able to follow instructions, ask clarifying questions.
Must be willing to offer and apply independent judgment when needed and authorized, offer suggestions, see the broader picture and show certain degree of creativity when developing new databases.
Must have good problem solving and analytical skills.
Must be able to evaluate different sources of data availability relative to specific reports and financial products.
Ability to work well with others; ability to work in a team as well as individually with general supervision.
Organizational skills, with good attention to details.
Ability to independently plan and conduct moderate non-routine projects. Show flexibility to processes changes.
Ability to interpret business needs into technical project requirement documentation. Must be very detailed oriented.
Reverse-engineering skills with ability to work independently, requiring little supervision.
Advanced personal computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office and other Windows based applications.
Advanced Access skills with ability to create, troubleshoot and enhance databases.
Basic Visual Basic for Applications troubleshooting and code writing skills.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Intermediate SQL/SQL server skills.
Reporting Services skills preferred.
Knowledge of Visio or similar diagramming software preferred.
Must be willing to learn internal and external applications from User prospective.
