POSITION REQUIREMENTS
* High school graduate or equivalent work experience required.
* Previous experience in the areas of preventative maintenance, equipment and systems repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction required.
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Machines, Equipment Used:
* Power tools and hand tools
* Outdoor equipment including lawnmower and snow blower
* Floor care equipment including auto scrubber, buffer, and carpet extractor.
* Motor vehicle.
* General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements:
* Good visual acuity and ability to communicate
* Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stand for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
* Ability to exhibit manual dexterity including extending, seizing, grasping, holding, and turning with arms and hands.
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
* Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
* Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
* Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
* Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Periodic outdoor exposure in all weather conditions.
* Exposure or potential exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids may be required.
* Will work periodically in non-handicapped accessible locations within the hospital.
* May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
* May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
* May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
* Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
* May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
* Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
