Payroll Clerk

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
 
The Payroll Clerk provides support to the Payroll and Human Resources departments with data processing responsibilities & processing functions. The Payroll Clerk works closely with the Payroll Operations Manager.  The incumbent will also assist in the weekly closing and auditing of the payroll and HRIS systems.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
·Will provide data entry support that is required to update and maintain the integrity of the information in both the HRIS and timekeeping systems.
 
·Will key data entry of employee awards and off-cycle information, up to and including confirmation.
 
·Will notify those required of car form completion of and to terminated employees.
 
·Analyzes and audits multi-jurisdiction, time keeping and other payroll processing reports on a scheduled basis.
 
·Ensures accurate, complete and timely processing of the weekly closing of payroll including auditing of Group Payroll Processor data entry and confirmation of payroll within ADP.
 
·Researches and responds to questions from the field regarding pay and payroll-related HR and Benefits issues including verification of employment, and printing of ledger cards for union audits.
 
·Maintains appropriate retention of back up documentation; procedural documentation and personal progress documentation.
 
·Provides back-up to the Group Payroll Clerk (s) with processing manual checks, voids and direct deposit entries.
 
·Perform other duties as assigned or requested. 
 


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
 
·One to two years of basic knowledge of standard payroll and HR practices including core wage and hour laws.
 
·Knowledge of Windows XP, and MS Office including: Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; automated time and attendance systems and windows based HR/Payroll applications.
 
·Proven ability in time management and must be able to handle multiple priorities.
 
·Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and must be capable of working under pressure with a high sense of urgency.
 
·Proven ability to make strong judgment decisions and work with a high level of integrity.
 
·Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and the ability accept and thrive in a changing environment.
Adherence to the standard that Monday and Tuesday of each week are solely dedicated to the processing of the weekly payroll.
A strong sense of team building and concern for morale is essential.
