About the Job
Looking for an experienced optical engineer to help build out nationwide long haul and metro DWDM backbone. We are looking for the following skills:
- DWDM ROADM experience, prefer Cisco specific experience
- Strong planning skill set preferred with the ability to help procure IRU's, manage physical fiber plants with the physical plant team, and work with the other network teams for IP, MPLS, and Datacenter overlay.
- Sonet/TDM provisioning and planning with circuit types of OCx, Ethernet over Sonet, and DS1 to DS3
- Testing experience using OTDR's, OCC, and TBERD for both planning, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to design MESH, LINEAR, and other DWDM topologies using both metro, long haul, and potentially, ULC DWDM technologies.
- Familiar with Dispersion and how to compensate for Alien Wave technologies.
- Ability to communicate to all levels within the organization including other engineers, users, business analysts, customer, and management.
