Sr. Software Developer (Temenos T24)

Responsible for all aspects of software development for client banking solutions including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment;
collaborates with Deposit Services Business Process teams, Information Technology and IT outsourcing partners to develop and structure appropriate client solutions; and provides professional consulting services to banking clients.

Design documents as needed
Develop integration modules for interacting with new systems and applications
Actively participate in resolving users’ problems in a timely manner
Develop and produce assigned software components according to project timelines and specifications
Create and conduct software and executable tests, continuously integrating code into the overall software framework
Review current software to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance and stability
Maintain and enhance existing software to address strategic business development needs, as well as, to improve the software
Research technical strategies, third party tools, and current and new technologies to deal with emerging technical issues and improve development efficiency

Client Solutions

Identify client needs and develop business process and technology solutions to resolve critical issues and support organizational priorities
Build strong relationships with clients to better understand and proactively respond to their needs, promote IFDS services and assist clients in meeting their strategic and tactical goals
Act as an agent of change for clients to improve services and productivity on an ongoing basis
Identify areas of risk and prepare strategies for risk mitigation
Plan, design, develop, implement, and support technology solutions to meet client needs
Research usage questions and/or software defects, conducting problem diagnosis and root cause analysis and implement timely solutions to meet SLA
Apply test methodology and product knowledge in the design of tests and testing strategies for the analysis and certification of products
Conduct walkthroughs of requirement analysis, implementation and test phases for projects with client team.
Ensure adherence to and assistance in ongoing improvement of Temenos applications and other vendor products
Ensure preparation of detailed documentation of workaround and fix details
Participate in the preparation of initial and detailed estimates for development and enhancement requests
Responsible for the availability and performance of the portal sites and integration services and execution of scheduled jobs and services

Consulting Services

Provide business system consulting services to existing clients and prospects in the development of effective business solutions
Design and implement banking solutions for client and internal requirements
Participate in detailed software design, providing creativity and innovation
Develop and build strong, productive working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
Participate in senior level business and technology discussions

Build Cross Team Functionality

Leverage professional knowledge and experience to promote the development and acquisition of banking industry knowledge across teams
Provide technical and process leadership to development team members
Provide software programming expertise to the Development team working with various business teams to understand issues they are facing and suggest enhancements
Effectively manage time in executing assigned tasks across multiple projects
Regularly review and update application documentation to ensure that all documentation products are up to date
Co-ordinate with different teams and third party vendors in case of severity issues reported on the production application and ensure timely resolution of issues
Follow IFDS development and release standards


(Behavioral and Functional)

10-15 years’ of development experience, preferably coupled with industry consulting experience within the Canadian banking industry
Previous banking software (T24) consulting experience would be beneficial
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
Experience with T24 and JBase
Experience with Java or Perl
Thorough knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies
Working knowledge of database management and Linux
Demonstrated proficiency with both object-oriented and procedural programming
Previous experience in CANNEX and other trading and settlement platforms,  processes and interfaces preferred
Ability to work independently and within small cross-functional groups/teams in a multifaceted, high pressure, deadline oriented environment
Strong analytical skills and ability to diagnose and resolve critical issues
Proactive, energetic, professional self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow-through ensuring thorough completion of assigned personal and team tasks with minimal supervision
Negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills
Ability to manage personnel, including training, evaluation and communication of expectations, requirements and results, and ensuring implementation and consistent application of department policies, procedures and quality standards
Have a positive attitude and solution oriented during difficult situations
Ability to foster an environment that encourages team work and strong work ethics
Willing to take calculated risks and proactively mitigate issues that introduce risk to the development lifecycle
