Manufacturing Engineer - Tool Design

Will identify and design cost effective tools for the assembly, test or manufacture of products. Will recommend product design alternatives to reduce costs and to simplify manufacturing or assembly tooling. Work involves electro-mechanical tool design, and involves layout, design, dimensional / tolerance analysis. Will develop tooling costs, lead times.

Work with project engineers in reviewing tooling requests and recommending tooling concepts. Recommendations take into account volume requirements and practical manufacturing methods for efficient production. Prepare tooling layouts. Produce safe, detailed, ergonomic designs from agreed concepts. Select tooling materials and specify heat treatment requirements which ensure tooling longevity.
