Motor Vehicle Mechanic

Job Description: 
Performs Field/Sustainment Maintenance and recovery operations on gasoline and diesel fueled light/heavy wheel vehicles as required. This individual may supervise field maintenance and recovery operations on heavy wheel vehicles and on material handling equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining vehicle systems including but not limited to the following: power assisted brake systems, suspension systems, power steering systems, crane/hoist/winch assemblies. Replaces major components, including engine, transmission, transfer case, differential, etc. 
Essential Responsibilities:
Repair, rebuild or overhaul major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.
Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
