IT Application Manager - Financial Services

Position Description:

Energetic and dynamic IT Manager, providing leadership to a technology team supporting annuities administration and business systems capabilities. This person will be a change agent responsible for motivating, coaching, and developing a team of experienced analysts in the delivery of innovative solutions in support of the strategic plan. Proven analytical, problem solving, and positive collaboration and communication skills combined with the ability to confidently interact with a variety of personalities and levels of management are keys to success in this role.

Responsibilities include:

Directs and coordinates business systems analysis and applications development activities through direct and indirect staff reports in the areas of design, maintenance, scheduling, technology currency, and standard IT development practices
Works with the business community, developing and delivering technology solutions, managing an IT team, and driving to high levels of customer satisfaction
Manages staff to ensure effective design, analysis, project management, programming, training, implementation, and maintenance of enhancements
Reviews, recommends, and influences technology solutions, assisting in the systems planning process
Understands and identifies differing risk factors and establishes/implements appropriate controls
Prepares and manages budget planning and re-forecasting efforts
Possesses familiarity of vendor systems management, oversight and selection as appropriate.

Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices, and techniques for managing activities described in job description
Possess technical expertise to provide leadership for business application design and support
Proficient in project leadership with expertise in analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to accurately analyze challenges, develop resolution plans, and implement solutions in a well-organized, efficient, and managed way
5+ years of IT and business work experience, including managing teams in business systems analysis, project management, application development, and/or other technical functions
Excellent presentation, oral, written, and graphical communications skills, as well as the ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
Experience effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to identify and influence the right people, processes, and tools to achieve planned results on time and on budget
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills at all organizational levels
Strong work ethic and ability to carry solutions from idea generation through implementation on time, on budget, and achieving customer's satisfaction
Strong analytic, organizational savvy, and leadership capability
Possess familiarity of vendor systems management, oversight, and selection as appropriate
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
3-5 years of management experience
Specific annuities, insurance, and/or mutual fund experience required
